This four-day continuing education course is designed for men and women who are interested in assisting elders to write memoirs. Since this professional intervention of assisting elders contributes to an elder’s life, health, social interactions, and family relationships, skills in listening, writing, developing a professional relationship, and conducting a small business are crucial to the process. Students will learn communication, boundary, and interviewing skills as applied to individuals and families. They will also develop entrepreneurial skills to establish their own home-based business.

Here’s what a student from last year’s class, Lori Nelson, had to say about the training she received from Mary:
“Mary O’Brien Tyrrell’s class, Jumpstart Your Memoirs Writing Business, truly helped jumpstart a new career for me in memoir writing. After taking the class last July, I was already successfully up and running my own business by September of the same year. I could not have accomplished this feat without skillful guidance from Mary and the knowledge, wisdom and graciousness with which she shares her business experience. Attending this course changed my life and set me on a new life path, an exciting path I never imagined. For anyone interested in memoir writing, this course is not to be missed!”
